A splashed glass of Pinot Noir on a pristine light carpet or an expensive sofa is a nightmare scenario. Red wine contains anthocyanins, which act as a powerful natural dye, especially on porous surfaces like wool carpets or upholstery fabric.
The Golden Rule: You have exactly 5 minutes before the dye begins to set permanently. Never rub the stain. Rubbing pushes the wine deeper into the padding and permanently distorts the twist of the carpet fibers.
Step 1: The Blot. Grab a clean, white, dry cloth or a stack of paper towels. Press firmly straight down onto the spill to absorb as much liquid as possible. Continue rotating to a dry part of the cloth until no more red transfers.
Step 2: The Salt Trick. Once you have blotted the excess, pour a generous mound of table salt directly over the damp spot. The salt acts as a desiccant, physically pulling the remaining moisture and wine pigment out of the fibers. Leave it overnight, then vacuum.
Step 3: The Professional Touch. While DIY methods are great for immediate triage, they often leave a faint purple shadow. This is where our 'Number One' stain remover comes in. Spray it lightly over the shadow and blot—it is formulated to lift organic dyes without bleaching your fabric.
If the stain has completely dried, the anthocyanins have bonded with the fiber. Do not attempt to scrub it out with dish soap. Call True Revive Xpert. We use advanced extraction methods to safely reverse the dye bond on delicate carpets and upholstery before it becomes permanent.
